
What is East Asian Medicine?
East Asian Medicine (also known as Chinese Medicine) refers to the traditional methods used to promote health and healing that come from China, Japan, and Korea. By far, the most recognized component of East Asian Medicine in the West is Acupuncture. But Acupuncture is just one of five branches of medicine. The other four are Moxibustion, Herbal Medicine/Food Therapy, Tuina, and Qi Gong.
In the course of a treatment, I may incorporate techniques from any of the other four branches of the medicine in addition to acupuncture. Read below for a primer on East Asian Medicine and each of the five branches:
