About Mariko
Mariko is an acupuncturist and herbalist in South Seattle. She received her Master's in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (M.Ac.O.M.) from SIEAM, where she trained in acupuncture, herbal medicine, qi gong (movement therapy), tuina (therapeutic massage), and the many other components of East Asian Medicine. While she treats a wide variety of conditions, she is particularly interested in tuina, gynecology & reproductive health, pregnancy support & postpartum care, trans health, and mental health.
A cornerstone of her practice is a commitment to increase access to Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine, especially in communities of color and LGBTQ+ communities. In the past, she has worked with (and been inspired by) community organizations, including The Well on Beacon, Rainier Valley Community Clinic, Asian Counseling & Referral Service's Club Bamboo, Families of Color Seattle, and the Muslim Association of Puget Sound. In addition to these partnerships, she strives to work on her own self-education to better equip herself to provide culturally-sensitive and considerate care. East Asian Medicine is a system of medicine that is safe, practical, and effective, and as such should be available to all.
